Removal and installation of components of a safety cushion

See the precautionary measures given in the previous section.

General information

Sensors of a safety cushion are built in an electronic control unit (ECU) of system which built in in a steering wheel of the car. The control lamp is built in assembly of a safety cushion.

In case of any doubts in serviceability of functioning of system, immediately address for consultation specialists of car service. Do not make independent attempts of performing diagnostics of a condition of system, or service of its components, besides the procedures of removal and installation of the module of a safety cushion or its rotating drum socket described below at all.

Electronic control unit (ECU) of a safety cushion

The block is built in a steering wheel and in an individual order is not delivered. The description of procedures of removal and installation of a steering wheel is provided in the Head "Running gear and steering".

Safety cushion module

Removal

The module of a safety cushion is built in in the central part of a steering wheel.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make deactivation of system (see the Safety cushion - the general information, precautionary measures and deactivation of system). 2. Turn a steering wheel so that to provide access to two screws of fastening of the module of a safety cushion. Screws are located from the back party of assembly of a steering wheel.
3. Turn out two fixing screws.
4. Release one of edges of the module of a safety cushion of the central part of a steering wheel, then deploy the module the liberated country outside, completely without removing it.
5. Carefully disunite the orange contact socket of an electrical wiring of system, then finally take the module from assembly of a steering wheel.
6. If the module is removed from the car for a long time, take the appropriate measures of precaution on its storage (see the Safety cushion - the general information, precautionary measures and deactivation of system).

Installation

Installation is made upside-down. Pay attention to the next moments:
a) Try not to drop and not to shake the installed safety cushion module;
b) Having finished installation of the module, make activation of system (see the Safety cushion - the general information, precautionary measures and deactivation of system).

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the safety cushion module (see above). 2. Remove a steering wheel (address the Head Kuzov and finishing of salon). 3. Remove casings of a steering column (address the Head Kuzov and finishing of salon).
4. Find under a steering column two plugs of an electrical wiring of the drum socket on the right and disunite them. 1 — Shtekerny sockets of an electrical wiring of the radio tape recorder 2 — Shtekerny sockets of a safety cushion
5. By means of the small screw-driver release a fixing clamp.
6. Remove the rotating drum socket from a steering column.
7. Release an electrical wiring from a casing (in case of need remove assembly of the understeering switch).

Installation

Installation is made upside-down.
