Citroën Xantia

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Establish forward wheels of the car in rectilinear situation.
3. Remove a steering wheel (see Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
4. Remove casings of a steering column (address the Head Kuzov and finishing of salon).

5. Release clamps / turn out fixing screws and remove the panel of finishing of a forward wall of a driver's foot well.

6. Turn out two fixing screws on the left side of the panel of the lower cover of a casing of a steering column.

7. Turn out the remained three screws of fastening of the lower cover of a column / the assembly block of safety locks. Access to screws opens through a casing of the assembly block. Remove the panel (at the corresponding complete set do not forget to disconnect from it an electrical wiring).
8. Under a steering column disconnect an electrical wiring from assemblies of the lock of ignition and the understeering switch.

9. In the lower part of a column turn out a coupling bolt of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft.

10. Give four fixing nuts (do not forget about washers).

11. Remove assembly of a steering column.

1. The steering column has the telescopic design much increasing injury prevention of the driver in case of accident. At front blow the steering shaft develops, considerably reducing rigidity of blow of the driver a breast about a steering wheel. Before installation of a column into place check it for existence of signs of deformations and mechanical damages of components, in case of need make the corresponding replacements.
2. Estimate the size of a side play of landing of a steering shaft in axial plugs of a column. Check freedom of rotation of bearings of the cardan hinge. In case of identification of signs of wear of plugs or the hinge the column is subject to replacement assembled.
