Dismantling and assembly of the generator, check of a condition of internal components

Performance of complete recovery repair of assembly of the generator with the regulator of tension lies outside qualification of the average amateur mechanic. Dismantling

Bearings of the generator jam lubricant at manufacturer, are calculated on all service life of the device and do not need additional service. Brushes slide on smooth contact rings and are calculated on rather big service life. Check of a condition of brushes is made on the generator removed from the engine.  PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Give a nut from an anchor shaft. At an otpuskaniye it is possible a shaft it is necessary to hold from a provorachivaniye by means of an old driving belt. Alternatively the shaft can be blocked by means of the prutkovy key filled in a pin end face. The nut at the same time is released by Rozhkov a key.

2. After an otdavaniye of a fixing nut use a suitable stripper and pull together a driving pulley from a shaft pin.
3. Take from the groove in a shaft pin a segment spline.
4. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the brush holder and the regulator of tension.
5. Mark the provision of a plate of the holder of the bearing from the opposite side of assembly and turn out both coupling bolts from the case. Separate a back cover from a lobby and easy blows of the hammer bring down the last from assembly.

6. Establish a cover with rotor assembly (anchor) under a press and by means of a 3-gripping stripper remove an anchor. Bolts of a plate of the holder of the bearing are taken after a rotor vypressovka - track that captures of a stripper were started under a plate of the holder of the bearing. If the bearing is subject to extraction from a guard, turn out internal bolts and evenly to a vypressuyta the bearing.

7. Wring out the bearing from the sliding rings. If the stripper is used, you start its captures under an internal ring of the bearing.
8. Unsolder the holder of diode assembly from the stator. Wires in the place of the soldering between the stator and a sting of a soldering iron should be held flat-nose pliers for the purpose of providing the heat sink, - diodes should not overheat.
9. Removal of diodes of the rectifier means presence at the performer of due qualification.

Check of a condition of coal brushes and brush holders

1. Estimate quality of contact of coal brushes with the sliding rings.
2. Check freedom of the course of brushes in the guides, in case of need smooth out fastenings.

3. If length of a vystupaniye of brushes makes less than 0.5 mm, they are subject to replacement. Measurement is performed by means of a ruler.

Check of a condition of a rotor

1. If the sliding contact rings are polluted or greasy, they should be wiped with the rags moistened in solvent. Scratches and other minor defects can be removed by grinding with use of fine polishing paste. Check of a condition of isolation of a winding is made by means of an ohmmeter. Press one of measuring instrument probes to the rotor core, the second - to a contact ring. If the ohmmeter shows infinity, the rotor should be replaced.

2. For verification of conductivity of a winding connect both probes of an ohmmeter to contact rings. The required range of measurements lies ranging from 3.4 Ohms to 3.7 Ohms. If the device registers infinite resistance, therefore the break takes place. The zero indication speaks about short circuit. In both cases assembly is subject to replacement.

Check of the stator

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Short circuit of windings of the stator usually is caused by an overheat of assembly and comes to light already during visual check. In the absence of visible signs of damages press one probe of an ohmmeter to lamellar rings, and the second - serially to each of three wires of the stator.

2. For check of windings of the stator on conductivity existence serially probe an ohmmeter each of couples of windings (1 - 2, 1 - 3 and 2 - 3). Lack of indications demonstrates break of a chain. Normal value lies within the range of 0.10 ÷ of 0.11 Ohms.

Check of diodes of the rectifier

Exact check of diodes of vypryamitelny assembly on passing of current and on current of leak can be made only by means of the special diagnostic equipment and its performance should be charged to specialists of car repair shop.

Generator of Mitsubishi

When dismantling, checking components and assembly of the generator of production of Mitsubishi (Melco) it is necessary to be guided by the assembly diagram, and also instructions which are contained in the text of the previous subsection given on an illustration (for the generator of Valeo). Let's notice that the nominal length of brushes for this generator makes 10 mm. Usually brushes are equipped with a tag in the form of the line on which the size of their vystupaniye from guides is easily estimated.

Measurements on windings of the stator and rotor assembly are made according to instructions for Valeo generators (see above) with only that difference that resistance of statorny windings has to make 4 Ohms.

Generator of Paris-Rhone

The generator of Paris-Rhone can be included in a basic equipment of some models (see an illustration the Assembly diagram of the Paris-Rhone generator). Dismantling of this generator for the purpose of replacement of brushes has to be made according to the instructions given below.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Turn out two fixing bolts and remove assembly of the regulator of tension.
2. Carefully clamp the generator in a vice with soft sponges and block a rotor shaft by means of a suitable prutkovy key (the key should be inserted into a nest in a shaft pin end face). Give a fixing nut. Remove a driving pulley, the remote plug, a spline and a flange washer.
3. Turn out long through bolts from a forward part of the generator.

4. By means of the screw-driver wring out a forward cover from the stator case. The screw-driver has to refuel not more deeply than on 2.0 mm in order to avoid damage of windings. Uncover the party of the drive together with the rotor placed in it.

5. For replacement of the bearing turn out four fixing bolts from the face party of a cover, then undertake a cover and a rotor, as shown in an illustration, and knock with assembly about wooden whetstone. The bearing has to separate.

6. Further dismantling of the generator should not be made. Assembly is made upside-down. Length of a vystupaniye of brushes is measured, as well as on other generators, by means of a ruler. Soldering of new brushes demands special accuracy has to be made in the conditions of a workshop of car service.
