Systems of start and charge

General information

Systems of start and charge are the main components of system of electric equipment of the engine. As work of these systems is directly connected with functioning of the engine, they are considered separately from other onboard electric equipment, such as lighting fixtures, monitors etc. to which the Head Onboard electric equipment is devoted separately. Information on system of ignition of petrol models is stated in the section System of Ignition - petrol models. The system of preheat of diesel engines is considered in the section System of Preheat - diesel models.

The rated voltage of onboard power supply of the car equals 12 Century. Grounding is organized on a negative pole.
The rechargeable battery which is not needing service which recharge is made from the generator of alternating current with the belt drive from a pulley of a bent shaft is included in a basic equipment of all models placed in the tight case.

The starter is executed according to the scheme with preliminary gearing and equipped with the built-in traction relay. At start of the engine the plunger of the relay moves into position and enters the leading gear wheel of a starter into gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel until giving of food on a device electric motor. The leading gear wheel of a starter is equipped with the obgonny coupling providing protection of an electric motor against a provorachivaniye at excess by turns of the engine of admissible value.

Precautionary measures

Detailed information on the principle of functioning and service of various components of systems is given below in appropriate sections of the Head. At refusal of any components their replacement is usually made.

At service of components of systems of electric equipment it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures in order to avoid risk of failure of semiconductor elements, and also for the purpose of prevention of getting injured.

Starting service of electric equipment, surely remove the watch, rings and other metal jewelry. Even at the disconnected battery the category of condensers by casual grounding of their plugs can lead to receiving electric shock or a severe burn.

Do not allow violation of polarity at connection of the battery. In structure of such components as the generator or electronic control units enter semiconductor elements which can be put out of action at the wrong connection of wires.

When performing start of the engine from the external power supply, or connection of the charger also observe polarity of connection of wires (see appropriate section in Introduction).

Never disconnect an electrical wiring from the battery, the generator or the diagnostic equipment at the working engine.

Do not allow a provorachivaniye the engine of the disconnected generator.

You do not make verification of an output signal of the generator by grounding of its plugs at all.

Do not apply to verification of conductivity in a chain the ohmmeters equipped manual with a dynamo car.

When performing any works on service of electric equipment you watch that the negative wire was disconnected from the battery.

Before use of arc welding without fail disconnect the battery, the generator and such components as ECU systems of food/ignition in order to avoid risk of their damage.

The automobile audio system which is included in a basic equipment of Citroyon Xantia is equipped with the built-in coded lock providing protection of the radio tape recorder against use by thieves. Protection works even at short-term shutdown of onboard food. Before disconnecting wires from the rechargeable battery make sure that you have a code of shutdown of the lock of the radio tape recorder (address the Head Onboard electric equipment in more detail).
