2. Make visual check of a condition of boots of spherical support and protective covers of a case of a steering rack. Replace the covers which are worn out or allowing leaks - hit in boots of dirt or moisture leads to acceleration of wear of spherical support and components of rack transfer.
3. On the models equipped with system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel check a condition of hoses of PAS. Examine nipple connections of hydraulic lines and covers of a case of the steering mechanism on existence of signs of leaks. Dribble of oil through protective covers at increase in pressure in a case of a steering rack usually testifies to wear of epiploons.

4. Grasp a forward wheel of the car in points on 12 and for 6 hours and sharply pull it. Existence of any noticeable side play demands conducting investigation of the reasons of its emergence. Continuing to pull a wheel, ask the assistant to squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake. If the side play at the same time disappears or will considerably be reduced, therefore, wear of stupichny bearings takes place. Otherwise it is necessary to check a condition of hinges and support of components of a suspension bracket.

5. Now grasp a wheel in points on 9 and for 3 hours and repeat check. The side play, besides, can be connected with wear of stupichny bearings. Wear of tips of steering drafts is the second possible reason of a weak point. At wear of external tips the visual side play of a wheel usually takes place. For assessment of degree of wear of the hinge of an internal tip put a hand on a protective cover of a case of rack transfer, grasp with the second hand draft. If now to pull a wheel, it will be possible to feel a side play in the worn-out hinge.
6. Having used mount or the big screw-driver, estimate degree of wear of plugs of support of a suspension bracket: you start the lever between the corresponding component and its reference point. Existence of a small side play is quite natural and is explained by elasticity of rubber inserts, however the excessive weak point testifies to wear of a support. In parallel, visually estimate a condition of all rubber pillows and inserts opened to access. Pay attention to such defects as cracks, stratifications, gaps, material aging signs, etc.
7. Lower the car on the earth and ask the assistant to rotate a steering wheel approximately on 1/8 turns in each of the parties. The delay in response of the operated wheels to rotation of a steering wheel (side play) has to be very small, and ideally be absent at all. Otherwise check a condition of hinges and support of components of a suspension bracket and the steering drive (see above). Estimate degree of wear of cardan hinges of a steering column, and also components of actually rack transfer.

Check of a condition of hydraulic racks of a suspension bracket


1. Check racks for existence of traces of leak of hydraulic liquid on the case, a rubber boot and through a piston rod. Leaks testify to internal defect of assembly and need of carrying out its replacement.
2. Check a state and reliability of fastening of all hydraulic tubes and hoses. In case of identification of the slightest traces of leak of liquid immediately try to reveal their source and to remove the cause. 3. Check also external condition of hydraulic valves and sockets.
4. In the presence of suspicions on violation of serviceability of functioning of hydraulic system immediately ask for the help experts.
