Check of a state and replacement of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units

THROUGH EACH 20 000 KM (12 000 MILES) OF THE RUN

Exact adjustment of a tension of a driving belt can achieve only with use of the special Citroyon SEEM 4122-T tool. The description of a way of approximate adjustment (at the first opportunity the car should be driven away on car repair shop where correctness of installation can be checked with use of the special equipment) is provided in the text of the section.

On all models one belt of the drive of auxiliary units is provided established. On the models which are not equipped with the air conditioner, the belt is used for the drive of the steering pump and the generator. Adjustment of a tension of a belt is made manually here. On models with To/in the same belt also the compressor of the conditioner which is installed from above on the generator is put in action. In this case adjustment is carried out automatically after manual installation of a roller of an automatic natyazhitel.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Prop up antiretractable boots back wheels, a front of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props. Remove the right forward wheel.

2. In an arch of a wheel remove a plastic cover from a cornice, having provided thereby access to the right wall of the power unit.



3. Turning the engine for a bolt of a pulley of a bent shaft by means of a face key with the suitable drive, attentively examine an auxiliary driving belt on all its length. Pay attention to defects like cracks, stratifications and attritions. Also existence of sites, zapolirovanny to gloss, is not admissible. The defective or worn-out belt is subject to replacement.
4. If the condition of a belt is found by satisfactory, make adjustment of effort of its tension (except equipped To/in models where the automatic natyazhitel is provided).

Removal, installation and adjustment of a tension (model without air conditioner)

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If did not do it yet, perform the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2 — 3.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

3. Weaken fixing and adjusting bolts of an arm of a tension roller (one of fixing bolts is located in the central part of a roller, the second below on an arm).



4. Against the stop tighten an adjusting bolt and take off a belt from pulleys.

5. Check freedom of rotation of a tension roller.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. In case of need replacement performance, track that the new belt without fail corresponded on the standard size which failed. Throw with a new belt pulleys and choose its weak point by tightening of an adjusting bolt.
2. Now it is possible to start adjustment of a tension (see further).

Adjustment of a tension

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If did not do it yet, perform the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2 — 3.
2. Respect for correctness of adjustment of effort of a tension of a driving belt is the key to duration of term of its service. Too poorly tense belt usually begins to whistle. You remember also that excessively strong tension of a belt leads to overloads and premature wear of bearings of the generator.
3. The belt has to be tense so that at a firm nazhimaniye on it a thumb on the site in the middle between the pulleys which are most removed from each other the size of a deflection made about 5 mm (see the remark at the beginning of the section).
4. Correction of a tension of a belt is made by rotation of an adjusting bolt. Having achieved satisfactory result, several times turn a bent shaft, then repeat check. Strongly tighten fixing / adjusting bolts.
5. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
6. Establish into place a plastic cover of a cornice of a wing and the right forward wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts.

Removal and installation (the model equipped with the air conditioner)


The scheme of laying of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units on the diesel models equipped To/in

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If did not do it yet, perform the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2 — 3.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
3. Weaken adjusting/fixing bolts of an arm of a tension roller (one of fixing bolts is located in the central part of a pulley, the second - below on an arm).

4. Turn out an adjusting bolt so that there was an opportunity to pass a metal core throughout an opening in a back part of an arm of a natyazhitel. The end of a core has to be bent under 90 °. The main task is fixing of a roller of an automatic natyazhitel when replacing a belt.

5. Against the stop tighten a bolt of manual adjustment.
6. Turn out a bolt from the lower part of the K/V compressor and shift a plastic cover aside.
7. Throw off a belt from pulleys (see the illustration Scheme of Laying of a Belt of the Drive of Auxiliary Units on the diesel models equipped To/in).
8. Check freedom of rotation of both tension rollers.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the replaceable belt corresponds failed on the standard size. Throw with a new belt pulleys, having tracked correctness of hit of edges in streams.
2. Turn out a bolt of manual adjustment, having achieved such tension of a belt at which the core can be freely taken from an opening in an arm. After extraction of a core the required tension of a belt will be established automatically.
3. Tighten adjusting/fixing bolts of an arm of a tension roller (do not forget about the bolt located in the central part of a roller).
4. Screw a bolt of fastening of a plastic cover in the lower part of the K/V compressor and strongly tighten it.
5. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
6. Establish into place a plastic cover of a cornice of a wing and the right forward wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts with the required effort.
