Removal and installation of components of the Magneti-Marelli 8P system

L models 1.6 and 1.8

Injection injectors

Before implementation of the procedure attentively study preventions of the section Power supply system - petrol models!


Before making the decision on replacement of a faulty injector, test on it any of special cleaners widespread now.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Remove the sleeve connecting the air cleaner to the throttle case (see Removal and installation of assembly of the air cleaner).
3. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a guide of an electrical wiring to the top part of the pipeline. Take a guide aside, having provided easy access to fuel injection injectors.
4. Release a fixing clamp(s) and disconnect an electrical wiring from the corresponding injector(s).
5. Turn out fixing screws and remove a plate(s) of fastening of injectors (injectors No. No. 1 and 2 fasten one plate, No. No. 3 and 4 - another).
6. Wrap up the injector which is subject to removal by rags for the purpose of prevention of dispersion of fuel, then carefully weaken landing of an injector in the fuel highway. Take an injector and remove from it a sealing ring. Sealing rings of the removed injectors at assembly are subject to replacement without fail!
7. Before installation put a new sealing ring on an injector. Slightly oil a ring pure motive and put an injector in the corresponding nest in the fuel highway.
8. Make sure of correctness of landing of all injectors, then establish into place a fixing plate(s). Strongly tighten screws of fastening of a plate, then connect an electrical wiring to an injector(s).
9. Return into place a guide of an electrical wiring and strongly attract it bolts to the pipeline.
10. Establish the air sleeve connecting the air cleaner to the throttle case, then connect a negative wire to the battery, start the engine and check injectors for existence of signs of leaks.

Fuel pressure regulator

Potentiometer of an axis of a butterfly valve

The potentiometer is established on the right on the throttle case. At first disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Release a fixing clamp and disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring of a potentiometer.

2. Turn out two fixing screws and remove a potentiometer from the throttle case.
3. Installation is made upside-down. Track for correctness of introduction of a potentiometer to gearing with an axis of a butterfly valve.

Electronic control unit (ECU)

Step motor of adjustment of turns of idling

The step motor is located from the forward party of the case of a throttle. At first disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Release a fixing clamp and disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring of the motor.

2. Turn out two fixing screws and remove the motor from the throttle case.
3. Installation is made upside-down.

The sensor of absolute pressure in the pipeline (MAR)

Sensor of temperature of cooling liquid

See the Head of the Cooling system, heating.

The sensor of temperature of the soaked-up air (IAT)

The IAT sensor is located on the throttle case.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a potentiometer of an axis of a butterfly valve (see above the subsection "Potentiometer of an Axis of a Butterfly Valve").
2. Release a fixing clamp and disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring of the sensor.
3. Turn out the screw of fastening of the socket of the sensor to the top part of the case of a throttle, then accurately take the sensor from the throttle case. Check a condition of a sealing ring, in case of need make replacement.
4. Installation is made upside-down. Do not forget to replace the failed sealing ring. Track correctness of introduction of a potentiometer to gearing with an axis of a butterfly valve.

Sensor of provision of a bent shaft

Block of the relay of system of injection of fuel

Heating element of the throttle camera

The heating element is established in the top part of the case of a throttle. At first disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Release a fixing clamp and disunite the contact socket of an electrical wiring of a heating element.

2. Turn out the screw(s) of fastening of the contact socket of a heating element to the throttle case, then separate the socket and carefully take an element from the throttle case. Check a condition of a sealing ring, in case of need make replacement.
3. Installation is made upside-down. Do not forget to replace the failed sealing ring. Track that the electrical wiring of a heating element was not clamped when tightening the screw(s) of fastening of the socket.

Fuel highway and injectors of injection of fuel

Before implementation of the procedure attentively study preventions of the section Power supply system - petrol models!


Before making the decision on replacement of a faulty injector, test on it any of special cleaners widespread now.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Remove the air sleeve connecting the air cleaner to the throttle case (see Removal and installation of assembly of the air cleaner).
3. Disconnect a vacuum tube from the fuel pressure regulator.
4. Release a fixing clamp and disconnect various hoses from the top part of the fuel highway.
5. Without forgetting about the preventions made in the section Dropping Pressure in a power supply system weaken fixing collars and disconnect hoses of giving and return of fuel from the fuel highway. Factory collars of the twisted type at assembly should be replaced more practical screw or worm.
6. Release lock clamps and disunite contact sockets of an electrical wiring of four injectors of injection.
7. Give three fixing bolts and accurately remove assembly of the fuel highway with injectors from the inlet pipeline. Take the removed assembly from the car. Remove sealing rings from end faces of all injectors (at assembly they are subject to replacement without fail).
8. Remove a lock ring (y) and take the corresponding injector(s) from the fuel highway. Remove the top sealing ring (y) from each of the removed injectors. All sealing rings at assembly are subject to replacement!
9. Installation is made upside-down. Pay attention to the next moments:
   a) Do not forget to establish new sealing rings on all being removed injectors;
   b) For simplification of landing of injectors their sealing rings should be oiled slightly pure motive;
   c) In conclusion the engine should be started and checked for existence of signs of leak of fuel.

Fuel pressure regulator

Potentiometer of an axis of a butterfly valve

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the throttle case (see Removal and installation of the case of a throttle).
2. Disconnect an electrical wiring, then give two fixing screws and remove a potentiometer from the throttle case.
3. At installation track correctness of introduction of a potentiometer to gearing with a gate axis. Strongly tighten fixing screws.
4. Install into place the throttle case (see Removal and installation of the case of a throttle).

Electronic control unit (ECU)

ECU is placed in the plastic box fixed on a mudguard of the right forward wheel. For removal of ECU it is necessary to disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Uncover with a box, then disunite ECU electrical wiring socket.

2. Take ECU from the box. In case of need give fixing nuts and separate the block from an assembly plate.

3. Installation is made upside-down. Track reliability of fixing of the electric socket.

Step motor of adjustment of turns of idling

See information given above in the subsection "L Models 1.6 and 1.8 — the Step Motor of Adjustment of Turns of Idling".

The sensor of absolute pressure in the inlet pipeline (MAR)

The MAR sensor is in an arch of the right forward wheel.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. At first disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Give three fixing nuts and release the sensor from below from a basic arm.
3. Release a clamp and disconnect an electrical wiring and a vacuum hose from the sensor. Remove the sensor from the car.
4. Installation is made upside-down.

Sensor of temperature of cooling liquid

The sensor of temperature of the soaked-up air (IAT)

The IAT sensor is located in the throttle case basis.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the throttle case (see Removal and installation of the case of a throttle), then turn out two fixing screws and remove a potentiometer of an axis of a butterfly valve from the throttle case.
2. Walk on an electrical wiring from the sensor to the contact socket of an electrical wiring back. Turn out the screw of fastening of the socket to the throttle case.
3. Accurately remove the sensor from the regular place and take it from the throttle case. Check a condition of a sealing ring, in case of need make replacement.
4. Installation is made upside-down. Do not forget to replace the failed sealing ring. Track correctness of introduction of a potentiometer to gearing with an axis of a butterfly valve.

Block of the relay of system of injection of fuel

Heating element of the throttle camera

Sensor of speed of the movement of the car (VSS)

VSS is built in assembly of the drive of a speedometer (see. Manual box of gear shifting).

Detonation sensor

The sensor of a detonation is screwed in a back wall of the block of cylinders.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. For the purpose of ensuring access to the sensor prop up antiretractable boots back wheels, then a front of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props. Now access to the sensor from under the car will open.
2. Walk on an electrical wiring from the sensor to the contact socket of an electrical wiring back. Disconnect a sensor electrical wiring from the main plait.
3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the sensor to the block of cylinders and take the sensor from under the car.
4. Installation is made upside-down. Track correctness of laying of an electrical wiring and reliability of tightening of a fixing bolt.
