Removal and installation of a head of cylinders

Before starting implementation of the procedure, attentively study contents of the present Section. Outline for yourself the scheme of an arrangement of various clamps and arms, and also routes of laying of hoses and plaits of an electrical wiring.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Empty the cooling system (address the Head Routine maintenance).
3. Remove the inlet pipeline and a final collector (see the Power supply system - diesel models). Alternatively (in particular on models with a turbo-supercharging), remove only the inlet pipeline (see in the same place), then give nuts of fastening of a final collector, remove remote plugs, then, by means of an extractor (or two zakontrenny nuts), take fixing hairpins from a head of cylinders now the final collector can be left on the place together with a turbocompressor.
4. Take care of reliable fixing of a final collector with a turbocompressor, try not to allow tensions of a maslopodayushchy tube of the last.

5. Disconnect from nozzles and remove hoses of withdrawal of leaks.

6. Disconnect fuel tubes from nozzles and TNVD and remove them, working according to the instructions provided in the section of System of decrease in toxicity and production of the fulfilled gases.
7. Give a fixing nut and disconnect a food wire from the corresponding candle of heat. Remove washers.

8. Disconnect a hose of a cooling path from the left back part of a head of cylinders.

9. Disconnect a small hose of a cooling path from forward (from a gas-distributing belt) a head end face.

10. Release a hose of return of fuel from the bearing arm on a head of cylinders. Shift a hose aside.

11. Disconnect a gas cable from TNVD (see the Power supply system - diesel models) and shift it aside, having taken away from a head.
12. Remove a casing of the fuel filter / thermostat (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating and ventilation).
13. Give a nut / turn out a hairpin of fastening of the bearing arm of a hose of a cooling path and a lifting eye of the power unit to a head of cylinders from transmission.
14. Remove a camshaft cogwheel (see Removal and installation of cogwheels of a belt of the GRM drive).
15. Remove a natyazhitel of a gas-distributing belt and an arm of the right support of the engine (see Removal and installation of components of the right support of the power unit and a natyazhitel of a gas-distributing belt).
16. Shoot an intermediate video of a gas-distributing belt (see Removal and installation of an intermediate roller of a gas-distributing belt).
17. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a forward plate of the engine to a basic arm of TNVD.
18. Give a nut and a bolt of fastening of a forward plate and the bearing generator arm to TNVD arm. Remove a forward plate.

19. In stages give bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders, working as it should be, the return specified illustrations (weakening of bolts will require a key like TORX by the T55 size).



20. Take bolts and remove them together with remote plugs.

21. Having shaken, lift a head, removing it from the block of cylinders and the directing pin. For rocking of a head use branded devices of production of the Citroyon company, or just two metal hooks bent under 90 °. Do not try to podrychazhit a head under the interfaced surface in order to avoid violation of density of its prileganiye at all.

22. Remove a head, then its sealing laying.

Selection of sealing laying

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the gas-distributing belt is taken off from TNVD cogwheel, then turn a bent shaft, having brought pistons of the 1st and 4th cylinders into provisions of VMT. Fix the dial measuring instrument of plunger type on the block of cylinders and nullify it on the interfaced surfaces of the block. Transfer a plunger to the middle of the bottom of the piston of the first cylinder and slowly rotate a bent shaft back and forth in the insignificant range. Consider maximum of the indications recorded by the device. Write down result of measurements.

2. Working in the order described above, measure vystupaniye size over the interfaced surface of the block of the 4th cylinder, then turn a bent shaft for a half-turn (180 °) and measure the size of a vystupaniye of pistons of the 2nd and 3rd cylinders.
3. In the absence of near at hand dial measuring instrument, use the planeness measuring instrument (the steel ruler put on an edge) and the probe of lezviyny type, or Columbus with a vernier scale (you remember that such method is much less reliable).

4. Define maximum of the removed measurements and use it for determination of thickness which is required for installation with a head of cylinders of new laying (see the table given below). It is possible to determine type and engine displacement for installation by quantity of the cuts or openings punched on edge to a head on its axial line on which this laying approaches.

Check of the validity of bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders to further use

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Manufacturers of cars recommend for check of the validity of fixing bolts for further use to perform measurement of their length. Nevertheless, according to authors of the present manual, it will be more reasonable to replace all bolts regardless of their state. Pay attention that if the bolt is cut off for laying fixing, (see further "Installation", item 2), at final installation of a head it should be replaced.

2. Measure length of bolts from the basis of their head to the lower cut. Define the validity of each of bolts to further use by the table given below.


In view of high loadings to which these bolts in use of the car are exposed, authors of the present manual recommend to make their replacement without fail.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Turn a bent shaft clockwise (looking from a gas-distributing belt) so that pistons of the 1st and 4th cylinders passed the provision of the NMT and began to rise. Stop a shaft, a code pistons will appear on a half of the course up. Pistons of the 2nd and 3rd cylinders, respectively, will stop on a half of the course down.
2. Having arranged the correct image (identification tags towards the engine turned to a gas-distributing belt to the end), lay the new sealing laying which is picked up for type and thickness on the interfaced surface of the block of cylinders. Track that the directing pin was in the place from the party of the interfaced surface of the block turned to a gas-distributing belt. As only one directing pin is provided, laying can be displaced in the course of installation of a head that is especially probable when works are performed on the engine which is not taken from the car and located obliquely. In the worst option the possibility of damage of valves or laying at blow of the first about the last is not excluded. In order to avoid such troubles, cut a head of one of fixing bolts and saw through in an end face of the last of vents for the purpose of ensuring its rotation by means of the screw-driver. Screw a bolt in one of carving openings in the block from a flywheel and use it as the second directing pin.
3. Lower a head on the block of cylinders.
4. Grease a carving part and the lower surfaces of heads of fixing bolts with Molykote G Rapid Plus lubricant, or any other of category of refractory.
5. Accurately fill all fixing bolts in the openings in a head (do not forget about remote plugs) and by hand tighten them. After a vvorachivaniye of three-four bolts, turn out the cut-off directing bolt (see item 2) and replace it new.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. In stages, in the order specified illustrations tighten bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders with effort of the first stage.

2. Working in a former order, tighten bolts with effort of the second stage, hold on on a corner of thirds (use a goniometer or apply the corresponding scale directly on a head surface).
3. Further installation is made as it should be, the return to a dismantle order. Pay attention to the next moments:
   a) Track correctness of laying and reliability of fixing of all wires and hoses of cooling and vacuum paths;
   b) You make installation of a cover of a head of cylinders according to the instructions provided in the section Removal and installation of a cover of a head of cylinders;
   c) Do not forget to connect the inlet pipeline and a final collector (see the Power supply system - diesel models);
   d) Surely fill the cooling system (address the Head Routine maintenance);
   e) Connect the battery and remove air from a power supply system (see the Power supply system - diesel models).

Models with a turbo-supercharging

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. In stages, in the order specified illustrations tighten bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders with effort of the first stage.

2. Working in a former order, tighten bolts with effort of the second stage, then hold on on a corner of thirds (use a goniometer or apply the corresponding scale directly on a head surface).
3. Further installation is made as it should be, the return to a dismantle order (see the subsection "Models without Turbo-supercharging", item 3).
