Check of serviceability of functioning, removal and installation of electric switches and sensors of the cooling system
The thermosensitive sensor switch of the fan of the cooling system (model without To/in)
Check
The description of check of serviceability of functioning of the sensor switch is provided in the section Check of Serviceability of Functioning, removal and installation of the fan(s) of the cooling system.
Removal

Fresh sealant / a new sealing ring will be required. |
|
1. The sensor switch is located at the left or on the right on a radiator (depending on model). Before starting removal of the sensor switch wait for full cooling of the engine. 2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery. 3. Partially empty the cooling system (address the Head Routine maintenance), having lowered the level of cooling liquid is lower than the level of position of the sensor switch. Alternatively, prepare a suitable stopper for an opening zaglushivaniye from under the sensor switch (act extremely carefully, trying not to damage a radiator and not to allow hit in the heat exchanger of foreign objects). 4. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor switch. 5. Accurately turn out the sensor switch from a radiator, at the corresponding complete set remove a sealing ring. If cooling liquid from system did not merge, a zakuporta an opening under installation of the sensor switch. |

Installation
|
1. If for consolidation of landing of the sensor switch sealant was used, carefully clean a carving part of assembly and grease it with the fresh pressurizing structure. 2. When using a sealing ring, do not forget to replace it at installation. 3. Installation is made upside-down. Tighten the sensor switch and add necessary amount of cooling liquid in the cooling system (address the Head Routine maintenance). 4. In conclusion start the engine, warm up it up to the normal working temperature and make sure of serviceability of operation of the fan of the cooling system. |

The thermosensitive sensor switch of the fan of the cooling system (model with To/in)
The BITRON sensor operates operation of fans of the cooling system (see below in this section).

1. Location of the sensor depends on car model: a) On petrol models the sensor is screwed in a back part of a casing of the thermostat located at the left on the engine; b) On diesel models without To/in the sensor is in the right forward angle of assembly of the fuel filter / casing of the thermostat; c) On diesel models with To/in it is located in the left forward corner of a casing of the thermostat. It is easy to identify the sensor on the socket of blue color. |

2. On temperature measuring instrument (if that is provided) the stabilized food from an instrument guard moves (via the switch of ignition and a safety lock). The contour of grounding of the measuring instrument is controlled by the separate sensor in which basis of a design the thermistor is put (an electronic element which resistance changes in inverse proportion to change of temperature. At the cold engine resistance of the sensor is rather big and the current passing through the measuring instrument, respectively, is low. In process of increase of temperature, resistance of the sensor falls and force of the current passing through the measuring instrument increases. The faulty sensor is subject to replacement. 3. If the control lamp of temperature is included in the package of the car, food on it moves from an instrument guard. The contour of grounding switched on the special sensor switch which is becoming isolated at a warming up up to some certain temperature. If the control lamp is established in addition to temperature measuring instrument, its sensor switch is usually combined with the measuring instrument sensor in the uniform block to which two wires of food are brought. On the models equipped To/in a control lamp is run by the BITRON sensor (see below). 4. At failure of the measuring instrument of temperature first of all check serviceability of functioning of the other equipment of an instrument guard. If devices do not function at all, or their indications are unstable, the cause of infringement can lie in failure of the voltage stabilizer which should be replaced in this case (the voltage stabilizer is built in a payment of a combination of devices - address the Head Onboard electric equipment). If serviceability of functioning of only one measuring instrument is broken, act as it is described below. 5. If the arrow of the measuring instrument constantly remains at the beginning jackals (even after warming up of the engine), disconnect from the sensor эк and ground the corresponding wire on the mass of a head of cylinders. If the arrow deviates at inclusion of ignition, the sensor is faulty and is subject to replacement, otherwise remove a combination of devices (address the Head Onboard electric equipment) and check for conductivity existence the site of an electrical wiring between the sensor and the measuring instrument. Also check serviceability of giving of food for the measuring instrument. If conductivity takes place, it is necessary to replace the measuring instrument. 6. If the arrow constantly is in the right part of a measuring scale, disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor. If at a detachment of an electrical wiring of the shooter comes back to a starting position (at the included ignition), the sensor should be replaced. Otherwise it is necessary to check a condition of the rest of a chain (see above). 7. The same principle is the basis for check of serviceability of functioning of a control lamp. The lamp has to light up when grounding the corresponding wire of a chain. |

The sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (model with fuel injection)

1. The sensor of temperature of cooling liquid of system of injection of fuel is also screwed in a casing of the thermostat and differs in the socket of blue or green color. 2. The sensor represents a thermistor (see above the subsection "Temperature Measuring Instrument Sensor / Datchik-vyklyuchatel a Control Lamp of Temperature — Check" of item 2). The electronic control unit (ECU) of system of injection/engine management gives basic tension on the sensor and determines the current temperature of the engine by the size of force of the current proceeding via the sensor. The obtained information is used then along with the other entering signals for determination of necessary duration of opening of injectors. On some models temperature is considered also at installation of turns of idling and a corner of an advancing of ignition. 3. At violation of serviceability of functioning of the ECU sensor passes into the mode of the closed functioning, using some average value providing adequate efficiency of return of the engine at its certain decrease instead of the false signals developed by the sensor. On an instrument guard the control lamp in that case lights up and the car should be driven away on car repair shop. Diagnostics of the sensor demands use of the special electronic equipment and is connected with risk of damage of ECU. |
