Replacement of motive oil and oil filter

THROUGH EACH 15 000 KM (9000 MILES) OF THE RUN OR TIME IN 12 MONTHS

On some models the key of square section suitable by the size can be necessary for an otdavaniye of a drain stopper of the pallet of a case. Keys of this kind it is always possible to acquire in company service center of the Citroyon company.

Regular change of motive oil and oil filter is one of the most important procedures of routine maintenance which are subject to performance by own forces of the owner of the car. Eventually engine oil is exposed to fluidifying and pollution that leads to increase in speed of wear of internal components of the engine.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before starting implementation of the procedure, prepare all necessary tools and materials. Make sure available near at hand enough pure rags and old newspapers for collecting the spilled oil. Ideally the engine has to be previously heated-up as hot oil has bigger fluidity and better washes away slime. Working under the car, try not to touch hot surfaces of components of system of release (in particular to the catalytic converter) and the power unit. In order to avoid a scalding and for protection of hands against harmful cancerogenic effects of motive oil it is the best of all to perform work in rubber gloves. For simplification of access to the components located under the bottom the car should be lifted above the ground and to establish on reliable props, or to tire out on a platform / a viewing hole. The car has to reach such position that the drain stopper appeared in the most lower part of the pallet. At the corresponding complete set it is necessary to remove also protection of a case.

2. By means of a cap or face key with a collar turn off half way a drain stopper of the pallet of a case

3. On some models the reversing of a stopper can be made only by means of a special key of square section

4. Establish the capacity suitable on volume under a drain opening, then finally turn out a stopper.

At the last stage, turning out a drain stopper manually, all the time press it to an opening. When the carving ends, the sharp movement remove a stopper, trying that the stream of oil got to the prepared capacity, but not to you to a sleeve.

5. Remove a sealing ring from a stopper.
6. Allow oil to follow from the case pallet for some time, in case of need move appropriately drain capacity that the weakening stream did not begin to spill by.
7. After all oil is lowered, wipe with pure rags a stopper and the surface of the pallet around a drain opening. Replace a sealing washer. Screw a stopper into place and strongly tighten it.
8. Move drain capacity under the oil filter located on a forward part of the block of cylinders under the inlet pipeline.

9. For an initial otpuskaniye of an oil filter it is the most correct to use a special chain or tape key.

10. Then it is possible to turn out the filter hands.

11. Produce oil from the filter in drain capacity.

As the removed filter usually is not subject to reuse, it can be turned out from the block, having used the big screw-driver which should pierce the filter through sideways.

12. Wipe with pure rags the surface of the block of cylinders interfaced to the filter, having completely removed from it traces of oil and slime. Having examined the removed filter, make sure that its sealing laying did not remain stuck to the surface of the block. If it occurred, carefully remove laying.
13. Slightly grease a sealing ring of the new filter with pure motive oil and screw the filter on the regular place. By hand strongly tighten the filter. Do not use for tightening of the filter any tool in order to avoid laying damage at all.
14. Take the drain capacity and the tool from under the car. Establish into place protection of a case (track durability of tightening of fixture) and lower the car on the earth.
15. Take the measuring probe, then turn off and uncover a jellied mouth on a cover of a head of cylinders. Through a mouth fill in necessary amount of fresh engine oil of the required grade in the engine (see. Weekly checks). In order to avoid spilling of oil it is the most correct to use the butterdish equipped with a nose, or a funnel. At first fill in a half of nominal volume of oil and wait several minutes, having allowed oil to flow down in the case pallet. Continue to fill in oil in the small portions until its level does not rise to the lower mark in an edge of the measuring probe. Rise in level from the lower mark in the probe to top will require about 1.5 more l of oil. At the end install into place the measuring probe and tighten a cover of a jellied mouth.
16. Start the engine and let's it work within several minutes, then examine an oil filter and a drain stopper of the pallet of a case on existence of signs of leaks. Remember that at the first start of the engine after oil change the control lamp of pressure of oil will go out with a delay in several seconds during which there will be a filling of oil galleries of the engine and a cavity of a new oil filter.
17. Kill the engine, wait several minutes, having allowed oil to flow down in the case pallet, then repeat check of level, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment.
18. The merged motive oil is subject to utilization in accordance with the established procedure.

It is indecent and illegal to merge the fulfilled oil in the sewerage — it is necessary to hand over it in special places of acceptance, - consult at the nearest car repair shop.
