Check of level of motive oil

Preparation

Park the car on the flat horizontal platform, whenever possible with a hard coating.

Check of level of motive oil should be made before the first in the present day trip, or not less than 5 minutes later after an engine stop.

If to make check directly after an engine stop, for the accuracy of the received results it will be impossible to be charged as a part of oil will not manage to flow down in the crater pallet, remaining in maslotok of the power unit.

Modern engines are very sensitive to quality of the engine oil filled in them therefore try to use only the recommended grades of oils (see below).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Need for frequent performance of adjustment of level of motive oil is an obvious sign of existence of leaks of the last. Park the car over the leaf of a pure cardboard outspread on the earth and on the last try to determine a leak source by existence of oil spots after a while (usually the car is left over a cardboard for the night). Lack of traces of leaks says that its burning out in the course of normal functioning of the engine is the reason of decrease in level of oil (see below).

2. You watch that the level of motive oil constantly was between the lower and top marks in an edge of the measuring probe (see below). Excessive lowering of level of oil can lead to serious internal damages of the engine. Gas station in the engine of too large amount of oil can be the reason of failure of epiploons as a result of increase in load of them.

3. Location of the measuring probe for various engines is shown on accompanying illustrations of the subsection "The Components of a Motive Compartment Which Are Subject to Check" (see above). Usually the probe handle for simplification of search is painted in bright color. Take the probe from the directing tube in a forward part of the block of the engine.

4. Dry wipe with pure rags a probe edge, having completely removed from it all traces of engine oil. Insert the wiped probe on the place, having against the stop pushed it in the directing tube, then again take it from the engine.

5. Determine the level of engine oil in the engine by the size of the moistened site of an edge. Level has to be between top (MOVE) and lower (MIN) marks in a probe edge. To raise level from the mark MIN to mark MOVE about 1.5 liters of oil are required.

6. Oil is added through a jellied mouth after removal of a cover from it. Uncover and add oil to the required level (for convenience use a funnel). It is necessary to add oil in the small portions in stages, constantly checking level on the probe. You watch that level did not rise above mark MOVE.
